How It All Started;

I remember an evening in February 2019 when I was looking for a way to get more involved with Le Phare. How could I go beyond words and do something concrete? The answer came to me very clearly with the phrase Walk the talk. I wanted to turn words into action by organizing an event where people would raise funds by walking for Le Phare. I would walk too. I spoke to the team at Le Phare and got the green light.

In the summer of 2019, we held the first edition, walking for six days from Quebec City to Montreal. Adding the 2020 and 2021 editions, the format allowed us to cover more than 700 km and raise a total of $100,000 in support of Le Phare’s mission. In 2022, we walked for 24 hours in Montreal (with rest and sleep breaks, of course!) and raised nearly $80,000 in a single event.

We’re back on September 2nd for the 5th edition of the Walk. This year, it takes place in Rosemont and surrounding neighborhoods, with routes of 30 km, 10 km, and 1 km. Having walked them myself, I can tell you they’re truly enjoyable. And every step brings you closer to the family celebration happening from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Jean-Duceppe Park. The goal is $100,000. Do as I did: turn words into action and come walk for Le Phare.
